The New York State Mental Health Alliance (NYSMHA) is seeking experienced consultants and coaches to support our work advancing school-based mental health systems, workforce development, and cross-sector collaboration across New York State.
Consultants and coaches partner with school districts, higher education institutions, and community agencies to implement sustainable, scalable solutions aligned with NYSMHA initiatives, including the Collective Care Team model and Grow Your Own (GYO) behavioral health pathways.
This is an independent contractor opportunity. Consultants will be engaged on a project-by-project basis to deliver agreed-upon services and outcomes.
Consultants will:
Determine their own approach to completing the work, without direction as to day-to-day performance, consistent with project goals
Use their own tools, materials, and methods
Manage their own schedules in coordination with project timelines
Provide services as outlined in a mutually agreed-upon scope of work
Consultants will not be integrated into NYSMHA’s internal staff structure, will not supervise NYSMHA employees, and will not represent themselves as employees or agents of NYSMHA. As independent contractors, Consultants are responsible for their own taxes, insurance, and business expenses and are not eligible for NYSMHA employee benefits.
Qualifications
Demonstrated expertise in relevant content areas
Experience working with schools, districts, or aligned systems
Strong facilitation, communication, and collaboration skills
Ability to work independently and deliver high-quality outcomes
Engagement Details
Scope, timeline, and compensation will be established per project and outlined in an independent contractor agreement.
